Description:BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development Coordinator is responsible for the
identification, assessment, and implementation of strategies which
expand the organization's existing service lines as well as
developing new service lines. The Business Development Coordinator
is an individual contributor role which collaborates with various
departments, department heads, and committees to achieve strategic
goals.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies and develops new business opportunities pursuant to
company's strategic plan
- Helps to shape the company's long-term objectives and determine
plans for how to meet them
- Evaluates existing service lines and builds on what works and
changes what does not work
- Identifies potential new markets/regions for growth and
development. Identifies market competitors and develops strategies
and work plans to execute
- Strategically positions organization in target markets to
achieve competitive advantage
- Expands the profile and reach of the organization and its
brand
- Develops and strengthens relationships which can be leveraged
to further growth and increase market share
- Builds and nourishes a pipeline of opportunities which can be
pursued over the long term
- Tracks and provides expert advice on emerging markets and
trends. Identifies changes, challenges, and threats and recommends
strategies to avoid or exploit them
- Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new products, services,
and service areas; especially those opportunities which leverage or
advance existing products and services offered by company
- Researches and identifies new markets or regions to expand
into. Learns all regulations, requirements, and other guidelines
which need to be considered before making recommendations to
management
- Develops and executes strategies which create new or expands
existing Medicare and Medi-Medi service offerings
- Develop and manage an Age In program for Commercial and
Medi-cal enrollees turning 65
- Provides advice on product and service development and their
related promotional strategies
- Develops proposals and makes presentations to the
administrative team, the management team and others to assist in
the continued growth of the organization
- Participates in conferences and meetings to raise the
organization's brand and public profile
- Interacts with elected officials to build alliances, create
organizational awareness, and to identify opportunities to pursue -
including those that utilize discretionary funds at the elected's
disposal
- Fulfills requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners
or for potential business opportunities
- Responsible for provider growth and new site expansion thru
practice acquisition, joint ventures, or other business
relationships
- Identifies opportunities for the development and growth of
patients across all company service lines/offerings. Collaborates
with health plans, brokers, and payer entities to promote growth of
patients
- Identify potential acquisition targets such as: IPAs/Medical
Groups, Ancillary Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, and other
business ventures which complement or supplement our service
offering
- Analyze data, trends, and other factors which may impact
proposed strategies
- Track and report on implementation of strategic growth
initiatives and other assigned responsibilities
- Serves as the in-house expert for business and provider
expansion activities
- Develops strategic alliances with all of the key influential
decision makers (i.e. doctors, hospital personnel, health plans and
potential partners such as senior centers, key community-based
organizations (CBOs), provider organizations and health and human
services agencies) to further organization's strategic and growth
initiatives
- Creates and distributes marketing collateral to support cold
calling efforts, pipeline development, and to improve brand
awareness
- Translates company's strategy for department heads,
supervisors, and staff across functions, drives organizational
change, forges new working relationships and synergies across the
organization
- Explores and develops opportunities to implement value based,
incentive and alternative payment based approaches with commercial
and public payers
- Diversify and expand company's revenue streams by exploring new
and diverse funding opportunities aligned with the strategic plan
(health plans, managed care plans, regional center, county, state
and federal government payers, etc.)
- Oversee special pilot projects, including coordinating with
partners and managing staff when applicable to the project
- Participates in the budget development process and maintain a
high level of fiscal responsibility
Requirements:BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR EDUCATION, TRAINING
AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
- At least 5 years of professional experience overall, with a
minimum of 3 years of senior-leadership experience
- Knowledge of managed care industry, health plans (payors),
hospitals and physicians
- Solid knowledge of health and human services and healthcare
industry standards, laws, and business trends including state and
national drivers
- Significant external relationships and a desire to succeed
- Track record for achieving or exceeding performance
targets
- Ability to create and develop new business entry points
- Ability to work with all levels of management including
C-Suite
- Advanced knowledge of contracting principles/tools and various
managed care reimbursement methodologies
- Excellent presentation, communication, and complex clinical
selling skills
- Understand, or be able to quickly attain an understanding of
the business needs of customers
- Proven ability to develop effective closing relationships with
key physicians, c-suite, administrators and business staff
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with a
focus on results
- Possesses sound strategic thinking abilities
- The ability to develop business plans using data to drive
strategy
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to establish open, respectful, and candid relationships
and exhibit a high degree of professional ethics
- Proven business planning and management skills; capable of
timely accomplishment of objectives
- Skilled at translating broad strategies into specific
objectives and action plans and problem-solving to ensure plan
progress
- Skilled at identifying trends and developments that could
result in strategic opportunities for the organization
- Demonstrated ability to achieve organizational performance
metrics including financial and quality goals
- Works collaboratively in a team-based environment to motivate
innovation and inspire staff to work collectively toward vision and
goals by clearly communicating organization vision for new service
line development, new target populations, new service delivery
approaches
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR PAY RATE: $66,560-$90K
annually
