The School Counselor/School Mental Health Workerprovides counseling to students in need of counseling and/or support with theirmental health needs. The Counselor maypossess an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Psychology,Addictions, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or some other HumanDevelopment major.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities:
- Provides necessary counseling as required forthe student and/or as outlined in the student's IHP
- Asses the students' psychosocial needs, andevaluate the progress
- Collaborates with all disciplines to plan andevaluate goals for each student
- Develop, implement and manage school guidanceprograms
- Utilizes a variety of therapy techniques andtreatment plans
- Works with student's in individual, small groupand/or classroom settings
- Facilitates student's learning involving lifeskills, organization techniques and time management
- Assisting student's with creating an academicplan for their education
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
MinimumRequirements:
- Licensing/Certification according tostate/facility requirement
- Current health certificate/physical exam, asrequired by state regulations or client requirement specifications
- Current PPD or Chest X-Ray (as applicable perstate/client requirement)
- Computer proficiency preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to effectively elicit/provideinformation to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to,supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills
- Successful completion of background screeningand onboarding process
- Must meet all federal, state, and localrequirements
