      The Student Service Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive services to new and continuing students on the front line by phone, email, and chats with accuracy and exceptional customer service. This position performs a wide variety of functions, including but not limited to the determination of lawful presence status, class enrollment, special admissions, concurrent enrollment, identity authentication, transcript evaluation, and outbound call campaigns. The candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills to problem solve andtroubleshoot student issues. The successful candidate will have a high level of attention to detail and be self-motivated with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment while following federal, state, and district policies. Applicants should embrace a service-first, solutions focused approach when working with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

      Essential Functions

      40% - Assist new and continuing students with all aspects of the admissions, records, and registrationfunctions. Supports the A&R front counter and welcome desk triage. Answers inbound phone calls and support virtual services via chat and email communication. Compose, edit and prepare correspondence with a strong focus on customer service, quick response times, and referrals to other related student service areas. Updates student records as required, following FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) while adhering to any other applicable laws, policies, rules, or regulations

      40% - Responds to student inquires for information, reviews and determines residency/lawful presenceand identification authorization, special admissions, FERPA/U-18, enrollment verifications, domicile, and Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE). Will assist with various enrollment, residency, and pre-requisite reports while maintaining confidentiality. Enters and maintains student-related information using a variety of student management software, including but not limited to the Student Information System, Dynamic Forms, and E-Document imaging

      10% - Works in a team environment, assists in training staff and student workers. Assist with evening duties, may serve on cross-functional committees, provide backup support to A&R leads, and performs other related duties as assigned. Perform special projects, special committees, residency audits, and data collection

      10% - Other duties as assigned

      Minimum Qualifications

      Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.


      An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

      Desired Qualifications
    • One (1) or more years' experience working in a higher education environment such as admissions, records, registration and/or equivalent
    • Two (2) or more year's customer service experience working with a culturally diverse population
    • One (1) or more years of experience working with student services programs such as online student information systems (PeopleSoft), Q-less tracking system, Cranium Cafe, and Dynamic Forms
    • Two (2) or more years' experience working in a team environment
    • One (1) year of experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive or similar product

      Special Working Conditions
      • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
      • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
      • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
      • May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
      • May require numerous evenings or weekends
      • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
