Description

The purpose of this position is to Lead the implementation of recreational programs and activities; enforcing safety and City policies and procedures; providing guidance to program participants. Preparing recreation facilities, meeting rooms, taking reservations, fields and courts for planned activities and events; setting up sports equipment, audio visual equipment, tables, chairs and/or recreational equipment needed for scheduled activities; providing guidance to participants regarding equipment use and safety; checking equipment for needed repairs and returning equipment to storage upon program completion. This position may include cash handling.

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES AVAILABILITY TO WORK ANY DAY OF THE WEEK TO INCLUDE WEEKENDS, EVENINGS AND HOLIDAYS. The traditional operating hours are between 5am to 9pm. This position will work anywhere between 15 - 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions

1. Facilitate day-to-day operations (including set-up and organization) of various recreation programs, events and activities.

2. Inventories program supplies regularly and provides information about any items that might be needed.

3. Sets up and takes down equipment for activities and events; supervises and coaches participants as directed.

4. Monitors program participants, enforces rules and regulations, and monitors security of facilities.

5. Interacts with the public in responding to questions and assisting in preparation for programs and events.

6. Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications/Special Requirements/Success Factors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of:

Parks and Recreation department policies and regulations

Various types of recreation programs (e.g. athletic games, drama, gaming, music, dance and or

computers)

Ability to:

Interact with citizens in a fun, friendly and courteous manner

Interact effectively and courteously with the public and other employees

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required

knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

Must have/obtain First Aid/CPR Certification (provided by the City of Glendale) within 30 days of Hire
