Job Summary
This position will focus primarily on making changes and updates to
text and images in the 750+ webpages that make up the GCC public
facing website. In addition to department submitted requests, there
will be ongoing stylizing of text and page formatting with the goal
of consistent messaging and tone. The specialist will engage in
ongoing maintenance, uncovering issues and monitoring Google
analytics, recommending suggestions and solutions to issues and
requests, updating of web pages, and general maintenance of the GCC
website. They will assist and collaborate with the web team in
troubleshooting major website issues. The Web Services Specialist
is focused on online presence, design and implementation of
webpages, ensuring functionality works properly, content updates
and appearance according to design formatting, branding, and the
MCCCD style guide and abiding by Americans with Disabilities Act
requirements.
Essential Functions
50% - Maintains and inputs data into websites and web-based tools -
Provides assistance to users; responds to requests and concerns;
uploads and maintains files to web servers; organizes and/or
maintains records and logs according to established procedures;
address and troubleshoots issues, as they arise; and reports
problems to Web Team and/or District Office IT
15% Maintains search engine optimization and URL links
15% Assists in the design and implementation of web pages
10% Adheres to applicable policies and procedures, rules, legal
requirements, and etc., example; Americans with Disabilities
Act
10% Monitors internet trends and software technology and performs
other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one
year of technical experience maintaining websites and using
web-based tools.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly
related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to
successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those
listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements
set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
A. One (1) year of experience maintaining and entering website
content and utilizing WYSIWYG web-editing tools and Content
Management Systems, Drupal experience preferred
B. One (1) year of experience using HTML and/or CSS
C. One (1) year of fundamental website design and/or content
management experience; one year of experience to include navigation
best practices, and developing and working from page wireframes
D. One (1) year of experience in utilizing web browsers,
development environments and internet servers
E. One (1) year of experience with implementing principles and
practices of search engine optimization
F. One (1) year of experience with adhering to ADA compliance
regulations in website design and functionality
G. One year (1) of experience using Google Analytics tools and
reporting
