Job Description:
Description Job Summary The lead medical assistant is
responsible for providing clinical support for healthcare providers
by maintaining efficient patient flow and quality patient care.
This position is also responsible for clinical training for new
staff and assisting with clinical supply ordering, documentation,
and tracking. Duties and Responsibilities Works in the scope and
practice of a medical assistant. Assists in guiding daily clinic
workflows. Assist with task assignments for medical assistants as
directed by providers. Assists the administrator by training new
clinical staff on basic clinic and medical assistant processes,
policies, and procedures. Updates, maintains, and ensures clinical
documentation in the EMR is complete, accurate and in compliance
with standards for documentation. Interacts with patients by
obtaining pertinent medical information, taking vitals,
accompanying them to the exam room, and assisting with overall care
to prepare them for the physician. Prepares treatment rooms
including restocking supplies, preparing instruments, cleaning to
maintain infection control, and setting up equipment in accordance
with department protocol. Draws blood as ordered by physicians.
Monitors biohazard and sharps containers according to OSHA
regulations. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which
may include sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining
lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
Schedules patient appointments. Monitors and tracks lab
requisitions, imaging orders, referrals, and electronic
prescriptions/refill requests. Prepares reports as requested by the
administrator or physicians. Checks telephone encounters, phone
messages, and EMR chats hourly, and all calls must be returned
before lunch, midafternoon, and prior to leaving for the day.
Accurately relay messages/instructions to patients/families.
Maintains strict confidentiality related to medical records and
other data. Performs other duties as directed by administrator or

Able to work 40 hours per week Medical office setting Ability to
see details at close range Ability to listen and understand
information through spoken words and sentences. Ability to read and
understand information in writing Ability to communicate
information in speaking so others will understand Sitting for long
periods of time Daily uses of hands to type, file, and write/sign
documents Minimum lifting requirements of 25 pounds to move office

Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
required Successful completion of a nationally accredited medical
assistant program Minimum of 2 years prior medical assistant
experience required. Excellent communication, customer service,
organizational and time management skills required. Excellent
typing and computer skills required.
