12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of related work experience required;
3 years preferred. License: Required Certifications: BLS
Certification required; advanced dysrhythmia exam must be passed
prior to acceptance. Must-Have: Graduation from an accredited
program including EKG interpretation. Description: This complex
position is responsible for performing remote surveillance for
multiple locations, specifically for cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a
central monitoring station. The technician will recognize, record,
and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias
following established standards and procedures. Work is primarily
performed in a centralized monitoring unit under the direction of a
registered nurse. Each technician can monitor up to 60 patients due
to advanced technology capabilities. The incumbent will accurately
recognize cardiac rhythms and follow established protocols in
notifying local nursing staff of changes. It is expected to follow
proper communication channels in handling routine and emergency
situations. The incumbent should have an awareness of and strive to
improve patient outcomes and departmental metrics. Shifts are 12
hours, either from 0700 to 1930 or from 1900 to 0730. Weekend
shifts are required; must work 4 weekend shifts over a schedule.
Holiday shifts are also required. There is no call or standby
requirement, but it may occur if the census drops. Opportunities to
cross-train might be available. Dress code is business casual.
Orientation is department-specific and mandatory for the first
group during the initial launch. The hospital can cancel up to 4
shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system utilized is Cerner.
