Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position in
an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and strong cardiac
monitoring skills. \n \n Responsibilities\n Position is in an acute
care Telemetry unit with patients primarily diagnosed with cardiac,
CHF, chest pain, pneumonia, respiratory, and sepsis conditions
Units include Tele I with 44 beds (double occupancy) and Tele II
with 32 beds split into 6 Central and 6 North; nurse to patient
ratios are 1:4, with 6N at 1:3 12-hour day shifts with every other
weekend required All three telemetry units use GE telepacks and
have monitor techs, but RNs must independently read and interpret
strips Cerner EMR is used in the unit Travelers are the first to
float; all tele nurses except those assigned to 6N may float to
MedSurg or Rehab, while 6N nurses only float to ICU/CCU No on-call
or standby requirements Responsibilities include telemetry
monitoring, titration of drips, and care of high-acuity cardiac and
respiratory patients Team structure includes a charge nurse
(typically without a patient load) and patient care techs (1–2 per
shift depending on census) Ventilator experience is not required;
6N has ventilators but RTs are responsible for managing them
Standard orientation includes 3 shifts plus 12 orientation hours
Scrub color is navy Holiday coverage requires working 1 major and 1
minor holiday Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented
approach are essential Former employees of the associated health
system within the past year are not eligible Travelers are common
on these units Block scheduling is not offered; modified
self-scheduling based on unit needs \n \n Requirements\n Active CA
RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses
not accepted Minimum of 2 years recent experience in CCU or
high-acuity stepdown unit required for 6N; 2 years of telemetry
experience strongly preferred for other units Current BLS, ACLS,
NIHSS certifications, EKG interpretation class completion, and
documented COVID vaccination required Must be able to read and
interpret telemetry strips independently Experience titrating
heparin drips required; titratable drips include Cardizem,
amiodarone, dobutamine (non-titrating), and heparin (titrating) Two
professional references: one supervisor from within the last 12
months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
Copy of driver’s license required for consideration First-time
