Pediatric Licensed Vocational Nurse (Multiple Locations Child & Family)

This position is partially remote, and you have the option to elect a 9/80 flex work schedule. This position will travel between sites, with the main work location being flexible depending on candidates preference. The pay range for this role is between $29.91 - $33.24 per hour.

Summary

The Child LVN is responsible for providing a wide range of nursing care in scope of practice in cooperation with physicians and other program clinicians at our four child and family clinics in South Los Angeles, Pico-Union and the cities of Glendale and Inglewood for children to transitional aged youth.

Primary Duties

This position will float between different child and family sites to cover staffing needs.
Receives and responds to calls from clients/parents/guardians and staff regarding medication issues.
Attends treatment team meetings as assigned, providing consultation regarding medical issues in treatment planning; provides feedback on client response to treatment.
Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with clients/parents/guardians; meets with clients/parents/guardians as scheduled.
Review and follows up on laboratory/ H&P results, working as liaison between the Agency and laboratory provider and pediatrician.
Educates and communicates with clients/parents/guardians on the potential benefits and side effects of medication.
Assists in training staff and others in infection control; provides clients/parents/guardians and staff education as needed.
Conducts informal and formal staff training in areas of expertise (e.g. medications, drug interactions, child developmental milestones health/dietary/vaccination requirements/sleep hygiene/elimination disorders/sex education/substance use issues)
Responsible for client vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and height.
Develops and maintains nursing skills through participation in continuing education and other programs, maintains current California licensure.

Position Requirement

Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
At least one year experience preferred as a psychiatric nurse in child & family outpatient or inpatient setting.
Ability to effectively record and report psychiatric/mental health and physical health symptoms.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to respond to crises and client complaints professionally.
Knowledge of current medications used in the treatment of serious/persistent mental illness.
Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
Ability to utilize EHR.
Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
CPR certification preferred.
Sufficiently flexible schedule to work occasional evening as needed.
Candidates must be able to successfully pass our pre-employment screenings, including a background check and Live Scan fingerprinting.
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to engage any individual regardless of background.
Exceptional at multi-tasking and time management, able to drive multiple pieces of work forward simultaneously while meeting all deadlines.
Goal-oriented team player with strong experience working in large and complex systems.
Current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
