Job Summary
Provides in-person, evidence-based instruction in 200-level Human
Anatomy and Physiology courses. The successful candidate will be
asked to teach both lecture(s) and lab(s) at one or both of the two
Glendale Community College campuses.and to align their laboratory
activities, level of instruction and grading policies with that
established by the course coordinator. Must be committed to
teaching a diverse population of students, meaningfully assessing
their learning and adjusting instruction such that the same
learning outcomes are achieved by all. The primary focus of this
position will be to promote student mastery of anatomical
terminology (using both models and plastinated cadavers) and
related physiological concepts. Together, these two courses
establish the foundational knowledge base for multiple allied
health programs (like nursing). Schedule depends on departmental
staffing needs; may include day, evening or Saturday meeting

Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree or higher in biology or a biology-related
discipline. Master's degree or higher in a medical or
health-related discipline (i.e. MD, PA, DVM, DPM, DO, DC, DDS, ND),
or in Education, with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester
hours in a Biological or Life Science Area. Completion of
coursework in program of study towards a Ph.D. in biology or
biology-related discipline that includes a minimum of 30 graduate
credits in discipline(s) identified below will be considered as
equivalent experience to a Master's degree in the field. Acceptable
disciplines and coursework include but are not limited to:
Agricultural Sciences, Anatomy, Animal Science, Biochemistry,
Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biology/Science Education
(maximum of 6 graduate credits can be applied to the 18 required),
Biomedical Sciences, Biosciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Cancer
Biology, Cell Biology, Conservation-Wildlife/Plant/Animal, Exercise
Science, Exercise Physiology, Evolutionary Biology, Embryology,
Entomology, Environmental Science, Environmental Biology, Ecology,
Genetics, Immunology, Limnology, Mammalogy, Marine Sciences, Marine
Biology, Medical Sciences, Microbiology-Soil/Medical/Veterinary,
Molecular Biology, Mycology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience,
Nutritional Sciences, Ornithology, Pathology, Pathophysiology,
Parasitology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physical
Therapy, Physiology, Plant Science, Public Health-
Epidemiology/Infectious Disease/Toxicology, Veterinary Sciences,
Virology, Zoology.
Any course that falls outside of these should be referred to the
BIO Instructional Council for determination as to whether it is
within the scope of the teaching field.
