Internal Medicine - AZCOM The Department of Internal Medicine in
the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) at Midwestern
University is seeking two full time Assistant Professors. This
position reports to the Chair of Department of Internal Medicine of
AZCOM.Responsibilities include:Academic (40% time):
- Assist with labs in physical examination, clinical skills, and
observe and review standardized patient experiences with
students.
- Provide remediation counseling and resources/materials for
students who have pediatric post rotation exam failures.
- Facilitate small groups and workshops experiences for first-
and second-year students
- Recruit and monitor Internal Medicine, Cardiology,
residency-based Internal Medicine, Critical Care and Subspecialty
Medicine rotations for third- and fourth-year students (including
site visits)
- Teach in internal medicine small groups, clinical medicine
courses
- Review and score SOAP notes and provide feedback in OSCEs
- Review AZCOM student internal medicine, cardiology, critical
care and subspecialty medicine rotation performance and grade
rotations. This includes investigation of student rotation
deficiencies in internal medicine rotations.
- Provide internal medicine assignments for students who miss
parts of internal medicine and related specialty rotations due to
quarantine or other missed days.
- Participate in admissions interviews for AZCOM
- Participate in scholarly activities
- Serve on AZCOM committees as assigned
- Mentor AZCOM students who intend to match to internal medicine
and neurology residencies and provide letters of recommendation as
needed.
- Act as Internal Medicine Interest Group and/or ACP faculty club
advisorClinical (60% time):
- See and treat assigned medicine patients in the Multispecialty
Clinic
- Teach students at the bedside as assigned and assess student
clinical learning
- Participate in quality improvement and peer
reviewQualifications/Education:This position requires either a D.O.
or M.D. degree, completion of a residency in internal medicine and
board eligibility/certification in internal medicine (AOA board
preferred but ABIM accepted). The candidate must have a license to
practice in the State of Arizona, a DEA license, and be insurable
for medical liability. -Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word,
Excel, Outlook, and Power Point) and ability to adapt to electronic
health record input.The physical demands described here are
