Job Details Our client, a leading company in the construction industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong background in financial statement preparation, reporting, and audit processes, ideally within or servicing the construction sector. The ideal candidate will have experience in public accounting, and hold a CPA, MBA, or CMA designation. This is a high-visibility role that works closely with the executive team and external auditors, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic financial planning. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Support and manage the external audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure accurate job costing and revenue recognition. Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures to safeguard company assets. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide financial insight and support for strategic planning and operational decision-making. Manage reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts including WIP (work-in-progress), inventory, and intercompany transactions. Mentor junior accounting staff and support their professional development. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred. Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting. Prior experience in the construction industry or with construction clients is highly desirable. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit standards. Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar platforms) is a plus. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems a plus. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Interested in hearing more?
